Hi all, had my Tavascan exactly 5 months today and the Air Con is blowing out hot air.

Just been told by my garage that first ting is to ReGas it and I will have to pay for this – £149.99

Plus, they can’t book me in until 9th October!!!

Can I go anywhere for the re-gas? Has anyone else had to re-gas so soon after owning?

If you’re going to pay for it yourself I’d take it to kwik fit and have them check it.

I can’t because it has a heat pump with R744

That’s unfortunate, I hope you get it sorted sooner rather than later.

Surely that is covered under the warranty, I would contact Mobility.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

                @joesto

Your car has a serious fault, with temps at 30deg + it is unusable.

Contact motability and get them to do something. The car is not fit for purpose and the cooling system is faulty.

You could take the car to another garage. But I would certainly be on the phone to motability to do something right away.

                That is ridiculous.

If it needs a regas after 5 months, it is faulty.

R744 is Co2 which is one of the less common types, hence why KrapFit don’t do.

Given you have only had the car 5 months I’d certainly be pushing Motability to deal with it at any VW group dealership.

Have you got recirculate button turned on.

At 5 months, that is a warranty issue without question.

I agree with others that at 5 months old it’s a fault and should be covered under warranty. If it were me I would refuse to pay and insist that the main dealer rectifies it under the manufacturer’s warranty. If they refuse pass the problem on to Motability.

I’ve had my Tavascan around 16 months and the air con is fine and has never needed anything replacing.
Definitely a fault and a warranty issue.

So after posting yesterday, I called another Seat dealer (Southend) and was treated much better and initially given an appointment for next Monday. Unfortunately, they called this morning to cancel as they also are unable to work on the heat pump R744 gas.

Called Motability, explained the situation, left it with Customer services and waited for a call back.

Motability called back with the advice that she’d spoken to my dealer (Bromley) and the advice was that I email the branch manager to explain, as they might pull strings and get me in sooner – I’m not holding my breath.

Lost as to what I do next, the car is essentially useless, especially in current weather.

Does your car have an heatpump, as Southend dealership have mentioned as I don’t believe they are standard fit on the Taviscan and would have been a factory option at time of order?

Its wrong of Motability customer services to put this back on you, telling you to deal with it, especially when its Motability’s car.

Its also concerning brand dealerships, suggesting they can’t work on the heatpump system to even do a quick recovery, vacuum and refill of refrigerant!

I think its one of those cases to get Motability’s ceo department involved, at least you will get a course of action with 24hrs on how its going to be sorted!

Just heard back from a senior customer services rep, she’s going to try to advance it by reaching back out to the dealer, but like I said earlier, I’m not holding out a great deal of hope on pace.

I know it could be seen as dramatic, but it’s roasting out there at the moment, we pay a small fortune for these cars these days and I expect air conditioning. I’ve told her that if there’s no resolution in sight, I’ll want a hire car.

                                        Fingers crossed!

Certainly not dramatic in this heat.

Maybe a tempory hirer car might be solution to throw back, if they say the dealer can’t advance.

Excellent you done as suggested, no doubt there will be something done about the car in the near future..

That dealership handled that very badly. That is one garage to avoid i the future.
