Not sure everyone aware but cowal hand controls have pulled out of motability. Always had cowal hand controls for ability to be hidden and more leg room. Got a car on order so now need to find a alternative.
any advice appreciated  was looking at the tech mobility or brig aide anyone got any of them what does it feel like driving with them thanks for any info

Mrs Joe has used Jeff Gosling push pull hand controls for 35+ years. Never had an issue with them, they have knee protection and have become less obtrusive over the years, really can’t see them unless you bend into window looking for them.

I also used Jeff Gosling push pull hand controls on several cars and can fully recommend them for easy use and neetnes.

Is it the manufacturer that’s pulled out or your installer not fitting that brand anymore.

Reason I ask is AIC in Cardiff are no longer fitting Jeff Gosling as I had them in November 2025 but when my dealer tried to select them again for my sisters car in March 2026 as I am 2nd driver on that car AIC no longer fitting Jeff Gosling Products so had to have Brig Hand Controls which I ain’t too keen on the indicator switch.

It is strange that two hand control manufacture’s who have been supplying Motability and their Disabled customer’s for years have pulled out, at roughly the same time, from what is a small amount of hand control suppliers, at a time when Motability are cutting back on the car Manufacturer’s and car’s available  to us.

It begs the question, why, or if it is Motability who has stopped using them and reducing our choice and rights even further.

Totally agree Callmejohn. I’ve always been happy with Jeff Gosling. My dealer tbinks AIC must have deals with other manufacturers. I said mind it’s wrong as Jeff Gosling available to order on the scheme but AIC the installer won’t order it.

To be honest AIC aren’t as good as when it was City Motor Services. Debbie the Manager was so helpful she knew her stuff too. Now not one member of the original staff are there now.

From talking to another company he said Motability asking for too much and a lot of changes going on  not sure what that means so some companies have pulled out. Cowal said as a small company they did not need the hassle so they pulled out. Is that more paperwork or a bigger discount as a supplier who knows.

Need the rods hidden so more leg room. Think the closet to cowal are the tech mobility. Will have to book a test drive with them in Colchester.

I used Alfred Becker hand controls for years. Not as neet as Jeff Gosling, but work much the same, worth a look if you can find an agent. A lot I saw on paper, in my research, I didn’t fancy how they worked.

You could always complain to Motability, who surely must have some responsibility to meet our needs.
