having been stuck here since new year having to work from home and as i get shopping delivered i havent had to leave except to pick up a monthly prescription i have noticed more and more entries on news sites like todays where the police have reported:

a couple were fined when stopped in the peak district it was found they were from seperate households had only travelled 150 miles to see the snow and to cap it all the driver had no license or insurance so they seized his car.

now whilst this and many other anecdotes provide a little light relief i do wonder about the mental ability of my fellow brits.

so my question is, is stupidity contageous do we need another vacceine?

Yes, although “need” is not quite appropriate.

I presume you are referring to the various varrients appearing on our shores, from what I can gather the oxford vaccine works relatively well fighting the Kent varrient but less well with the South African. Oxford are already tweaking their vaccine, developing a top up to better fight the African varrient. I don’t know if the “top up” is a single dose, I think it is, but we will find out in due course.

The existing oxford vaccine is still very effective and if offered it you should take it.

no brydo, i was refering to a vaceine being required to combat the disease of stupidity for those that think its ok to drive from luton to the peak district to look at the snow.

lets face a vaceine thats 60% effective against the s.a version is better than no vacceine which is 0% effective.

We have vaccines that are 70-90% effective and that also reduce the prospect of acute symptoms, hospitalization and onward transmission, coupled with better hospital treatments, steroids etc is a far better place to be compared with this time last year. Not sufficient for the return of pre covid life but hopefully something a lot better than life in 2020. Government needs to be pro-active and react without delay to other strains of covid as soon as any risk is identified. Interestingly is does appear that large crowds at sporting events, festivals etc is a still long way off.
