The steering wheel locked? As in like when a car is switched off and the steering locks?

Unfortunately a friend of mine wrote her car off and crashed the courtesy car and mobility cancelled the contract.

What we’re all dying to know Val is… was the original accident in your Motability car your fault?

            More safety aid related.

If you search around you will find what seems similar to what happened to you. I would do your research and gather, as much information as possible.

Jaecoo 7 & 8 Facebook (described as dangerous)

“Had 7 for a few months, driving its randomly pulling to the side very abruptly possibly to avoid collision but nothing in front of me anytime its happened. 3 times happened yesterday making me scared to drive it . Has this happened to anyone else ?”

With the most respect Val, the responsibility is with you for your ability to navigate any car without crashing into something. If you had an at fault accident and then proceeded to carry on driving an unfamiliar car without consulting Switch, Jaecoo or indeed the internet, I’d be highly surprised if Motability didn’t draw the line at one “accident”, let alone two.

I’d take anything from the Jaecoo Facebook pages with a pinch of salt. There’s a massive amount of false justification for crashing into things and blaming the car for something rather than themselves. “The car reversed into a wall!” Was my favourite when clearly the driver had left it in reverse and stamped on the throttle.
I don’t like stereotyping drivers, but Jaecoo definitely attracts the average driver with reduced mechanical sympathy or ability to indeed drive.

@kezo like lane assist where you can feel resistance from the steering wheel? Other than that I can’t think of the steering locking up.

It will be. DLM that makes that call not Motability.

If DLM will not insure a driver then its game over.

But there have been a lot of high profile cases where drivers were adamant the EV  sped away uncontrollably, when in actual fact they had gone though a speed trap and knew they were done… and tried to blame the car.

But every input is recorded on modern cars and can be downloaded. Along with the drivers face being recorded…lol

I would bet my house it was the lane assist…when taking a corner the Jaecoo 7 thinks you have crossed the center line (white line) and pulls hard to the left, which can, if not used to it send you thinking the steering has jammed, turn off lane assist every time you drive Jaecoo 7

There are various reprts online of the Jaecoo 7 steering issues

                          Jaecoo J7 Steering Issues
If there is issue in your steering then it is not difficult to analyze it. There are some common signs of the steering issues, which are vibration while driving, loose steering wheel, difficulty in turning the wheels, strange noises when drive Jaecoo J7 or vehicle pull one side, when you are driving. If you are noticing any of these issues, you should get your Jaecoo J7 serviced. Any of these issues can impact the big risk to steering of used Jaecoo J7 and it can be dangerous for your life and the lives of other drivers, who are driving their vehicles on the road. The steering issues may be caused of poorly inflated tires and in some situations, they can cause by the suspension problems. Gari.PK/cars

The first Jaecoo J7 vehicles delivered in Italy have shown excessively corrective behavior of the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) and repetitive warnings of the Driver Monitoring System (DMS) , even in regular driving conditions. This is a combined software-mechanical phenomenon, typical of new platforms, due to parameters not learned after windshield replacement, minimal misalignments of the front camera , or dated ECU releases. autoricambitritella.it

I do agree with you kezo but as a Jaecoo j7 driver I did have the same heavy streering on some bends and country lane maked roads where sometimes you need to be a little over the center line (pot holes/hedges ect) ofcourse keeping a watch for oncoming vehicles, which sharply ‘pulls’ the steering wheel that has the effect of seeming that the vehicles steering faulty, again my first call would be disable the lane assist before looking into mechanical problems….but remember you must disable it EVERY time you restart the car as default it turns back on from starting off
