Two weeks ago I went to my yearly check up at Sheffield spinal injuries hospital I saw the consultant and she prescribed a tablet for my condition she said she would write a letter to my doctors surgury and should be there within two weeks . I told her what if I have heard nothing in two weeks ? She said go down to your surgury I did that yesterday they looked on the computer and they haven’t received a letter ! I’m not phoning Sheffield up because they are bound to say it’s in the post ? How long should a doctors letter take to arrive with the post etc ?

If the consultant has prescribed medication on repeat from the GP, the letter should arrive in around two weeks digitaly or through the post.
I would ring the consultants secretary and ask if and when the letter was sent.
Do you have the “patients know best app” where consultant letters blood tests etc are uploaded for your record?
Or The NHS app which is excellent for this sort of thing. It’s fair to say the the GP practise have received the letter, but it’s waiting for admin to put on the system. This happens at our GP practise sometimes they get snowed under with this work load.
