Confused about change from GCB to GCP

      Hi everyone,

I was reading about the Good Condition Bonus (GCB) since I am returning my car next month to collect my new one (hopefully) but noticed that they have sneakily changed the name of the GCB to the Good Condition Payment (GCP) 3 days ago according to their page on the GCB. I was a bit confused about what the changes are, it says you will receive £250 for a 3-year lease and £350 for a 5-year lease, but then something about another £350 payment… I’m not sure I was quite confused while reading it.

I also had a question about the new car payment, and was wondering whether this was still being given as I can’t find the page mentioning it anymore.

I might just be reading this wrong, so would appreciate if anyone could advise otherwise! 🙂

Motability say they are reducing the GCB so they can reduce prices. The first part can be measured, the second cannot, we have to rely on Motability making good on the promise.

Even if they do reduce AP’s, there is no way to say it was this money that was reason.

          It’s all very shady imo

yet just another cut back   so many people rely on it as deposit on their next car  i dont think they will reduce prices  with most things  when the prices go up  they dont  go back down

              Hello.
not sure if im in the right place.
I ordered my car June 2021, and finally collecting next week on the 19th.
it’s my first car so I know I qualify for the new car payment but do I qualify for the good condition payment thing? I know if you order after Oct you don’t but mine was ordered 16 months ago.
Im just confused over it all to be honest.
              thanks.

                • £350 of your good condition payment by the end of October
                • £250 of your good condition payment after you return your car

think some people are just greedy  ,I actually am grateful for even having the benefit of a car ,let alone and bonuses, cars should be looked after anyway its common decency when it’s not owned by us

I agree up to a point. However if Motability are paying staff way above the going rate, making tens of millions extra as a result of the circumstances that is wrong., Where should those excess profits? To its staff as a bonus, its Chief Exec, to charities, or returned to its members, in the form of a dividend? Or a combination? Probably a combination, however, given the current economic situation, the relatively high AP´s I can see the number of members falling over the next 3 years, smaller numbers means less income and less staff and less buying power. It really is in Motability´s interest to make the scheme more attractive.

                          Who are the greedy ones?

The people giving up their money for a car which they need or the company making over half a billion in profit every year, but continuously increasing advance payments and cutting bonuses for their customers, but handsomely rewarding their staff members with corporate bonuses?

I know certain topics can become contentious even with well made points on both sides, but can we keep the discussion on point please.

It can be a little contentious, I think we shall have to see if the new GCP leads to better prices going forward. Like many I was happy to receive 350 which I was not expecting.
