      Hi

Just wanted to see if this is normal practice now,

we are just about to change our car (1st March) and have to get the old one MOTed and serviced before then, thats fine, we have had mobility cars before and thats whats happened before, we only have the one car and so its difficult to take it to the dealership and leave it there all day while they service it and MOT it. in the past we have arrange to have the car collected and even been offered a car to use while ours is away (not taken up the offer). This time we have booked it in as normal for the finial service/MOT and did this a few weeks ago. just received a email telling us that there will be a £15.95 collection fee to pay. just rang them and asked if thats right for mobility cars and have been told they charge all mobility car and none mobility car users the same fee. 1st time we have had this. is it the norm nowadays??

Just remember, it’s Motability’s car. You’re doing Motability a favour by taking a vehicle for it’s MOT and final service. You just need to get in touch with Motability who will either tell the dealership not to charge, or that they (Motability) will pay the charge.

Never been charged, I always have cars collected and returned for servicing or final MOT etc.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

My current car is going for it’s MOT this Friday at Nissan, changing car in March.

This car is my third motability car, this one and the other two have had their MOTs carried out but none have had or will have their third service.

Not being charged for car pickup and return. Didn’t think motability would pay for a service if lease is ending.

                    A little update

I rang the dealership  first thing this morning and said that having spoken to  mobility they agree that I should not be charged the collection fee ( yes I know its a bit of pork pie) . The dealership  then agreed that ‘on this occasion ‘ they would drop the charge but if I bring it back another year then they will have to charge as thats the new policy . I agreed that if I bring it back next year I will pay. No chance! I change the car in March so I will have a different brand of car then so not going back to them anyway.

Thanks to all for the advice .

Skoda alway’s requested £10 for insurance with a loan car. I always’s had to remind them it was a Mb car nd they always said no cost involved as it’s covered through RSA.

If I took a loan car during Covid when my previous car went in for a service they wanted £30 disinfectant cleaning fee to just wipe the controls with anti-bac spray. Needless to say I took Mb’s offer up of  a taxi to and from!

I had this years back with a company car, Ford Mondeo.  The Ford dealer said I would have to pay for the one day insurance for the loan car, £10 from memory. I showed them my insurance document that said I was covered for any car loaned to, or hired by my employer, they told me it did not cover me.

I told them it does and if they were not happy I would take the car somewhere else. The guy behind the desk then went out the back and came back a few minutes later and told me he had spoken to the manager and it turns out they could accept my insurance document.

I’d think insurance is included, but not excess waiver that the garage can offer.

Hol on hol on. Ive been told  by Motability i have to pay £15 collection fee that the dealer wants…..But , Motability  will pay for my taxis,or a pre -booked hire car   both of which… will probably be more expensive …..

I know this is an old post but having many local dealers of your make closing down something I always had was pick up and delivery for service. Now it seems many dealers not making so much profit they are charging my local dealer has had there franchise taken away which was only 7 miles away now my only local dealer is 16 miles away and they want £40 it is not good these dealers closing or losing there franchise on us.

Our charge £30.00 save a lot of hassle, happy to pay it.

Had my Enyaq at the dealers in December as they wouldn’t do collect/drop off as they used to.  They were going to charge me £10 for arranging a loan car but when they realised it was Motability they waived it.

Nissan tried to charge me £15 for a loan car but luckily  I was chatting to the dealers Motability specialist when I was booking it in and they told the service manager to book it on Motability insurance.
Thats the first time I’ve ever been asked to pay.

When I booked my car into Bristol Street Motors (Vertu), I was told there is no collection charge if the distance is less than ten miles.

Then about 6.15pm, I got a call from the garage the day before the service, and they demanded I pay £48. I told them what I was told, and they simply said, ‘It’s always been our policy for motorbility or private cars to charge £48.’

He wasn’t willing to run his recorded calls to verify if I was lying, and said that it’s always been like that.

You can imagine what I felt like, and I even asked if Motability paid this, but there was no budging on his part, and he demanded £48.

Tommorow I will call Motability to ask about this charge, as I simply think they left the call till after 6pm, as that is the time Motability closes.
