has anyone changed their BP Pulse charger to a Ohme/instavolt or Zappi?

i am just entering the last year of my lease and i am hoping to order the Hyundai Ioniq 5 next.  my only issue is that the Ioniq 5 does is not supported by octopus IO so if i was to pursue this car i would need to change my home charger to one of the above as they do work with IO instead of the car and i really need the cheap tariff to keep costs down.  that said if a swap of home charger is going to cost hundreds of pounds i may have to rethink.

i was wondering what the cost is of swapping a charger any information would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT 11.03.25   so i phoned motability and explained what everyone had kindly said, 2g charging unit not supported by BP anymore, app not updated for years, red light fault everytime i use it that could be anything from bad signal to its about to stop working.   they said they would get back to me in 48 hours with an answer if i could have a replacement.  they never came back to me but OHME did and i now have on order the Epod charger compliments of motability.

      thanks guys

You could request Motability replace the Pulse on the basis BP no longer support it and your having issues and the fact schedule charging is no longer possible due to the 2g sim and therefore you wouldn’t want to order another EV without a functioning charger. (others on here have done this)

The other option is moving to EON next drive tariff which is on par with IO tariff.

I had this exact same issue. My BP Pulse charger worked, but couldn’t support any of the time-shifted tariffs.

When I ordered my Ioniq 5, the salesman went through all the questions, one of which was ‘Do you want a charger installed’. Of course I said yes, and the Ohme was installed without any issues or questions from Motability.

We applied but never got the BP charger, so I had our own Viridian dumb unit (brilliant quality) charger fitted. I just use Octopus Go with my Ioniq 5, use the car’s own charge schedule software to charge between 12.30 – 5.30am. The price difference has come down, Go is now 8.1p, vs Intelligent Go at 7p, so there isn’t much in it except for the extra slots provided by Intelligent Go – although recent changes there have seen them reduced as Octopus refines its software and understanding of the process.

Tried to get a new unit with Motability when we ordered the Ioniq 5, All seemed well, until Ohme did a survey of our place and said no chance – despite it just being a direct swap of the existing unit (same RCB, same 6mm cable).

EON Next Drive looks good, a saving with its 6.7p off-peak car charge rate, but its peak fees are over a penny more than Octopus, Standing charges are 6p more, so no savings to be had for us there.
