Cars with Adaptive Cruise Control as standard?

I must say, Adaptive Cruise Control has become something i really value and need just like i need an automatic. It’s only when you have to drive a car without them you notice how much they make a big difference to me and my overall condition. Being able to go from 0 to 70mph (actually 100mph) at a press of a button and stop without braking ( if a car is in front) Is just so much better than cruise control especallly when combined with an automatic gearbox and for around town or traffic, driving has become somewhat enjoyable again.

Currently I have a mk7 golf match editionon the scheme with dsg and Adaptive Cruise Control. It has really helped make driving a lot easier and less stressful to my body. Although the seat is not so comfortable for me after a little while. Maybe its the heated seats, so i would only get another golf with better seats..

The new golf 8 is out soon, feb i heard, but without knowing AP options etc.

Gotta pop to the dealer this week as the ns wiper blade needs changing. So may ask when i pop in.

I’m due to order my next car in mid jan for april, So far there seems very little choice for me. I need a medium sized car, but i don’t want an estate and must not be to slow.

So the list i have consists of The honda civic sport, which i’ve had a test drive in but it was a prestege not the sport. but AP this 1/4 went up £300 and a refreshed version is coming soon for 2020 or a seat leon excellence lux, That has ACC all other like fr don’t.

Big differnce in AP As well.. Prices may change on jan 1st  although the seat dealer ain’t local, so thats a big issue for servicing etc.

So thought i’d ask for ppl opinions and advice bored of looking at car specs and finding out its a pack thats extra for many cars i like, or is only standard on a focus st that’s not on the scheme for example.

just such a pain. wish there was an option to search specs of models

What about SUV’s? Plenty of them on the scheme including the every popular Tiguan lol. The R line tech has ACC as standard ( and a lot more ) but not sure if that too big a car for you? Drives like a big golf ??

Before the golf i had a c4 grand picasso and a suv before that, but liking being lower again, The Tiguan is alright drove one for a week in sicily, One downside imo is the seats even r line tech comes with heated seats and i seen a few vids and a few have complained about the seats not being comfortable at all after 30 mins just painful and i have a bad back already, just gets worse more i sit in it. Is the one bad thing about the golf i have now. The seats.

Soon as a sat in the honda sport i was this seats alot more comfortable than my golf, even a basic peugeot 208 on my honeymoon in rhodes this oc gone, had a more comfortable seat than my golf, but the test drive in the civic was in the leather seats, so who knows. Often they don’t have the exact trim or model for a test drive. Then you stuck with the car for 3 years. but i gotta go vw so i’ll check it out…

The acc once you get used to how it works and the parameters then it’s great, might not be for everyone one but I’ve done a lot more miles in the golf than any of my other cars because of the acc, so easy all i have to do is steer most of the time. Its not for everyone but as a driving aid is great for me.

              Hi Rox

I went to a VW dealer to check out a Tiguan or golf estate – need the boot for a large rollator- and saw a car that I had never even glanced at. A Touran. After 2.5 years cannot fault it. Just done a 330 mile round trip for a hospital visit in Birmingham and had no issues with the seats. Love the seat heaters which are part of the winter pack. Drives like an elevated golf estate. Seats at hip height for easy access and no suv wide cills. Mine is a SEL 1.4 tsi dsg with standard ACC. Currently £1099 which is £400 less that 3 years ago. Bargain, imho for a £32k car. Alcantara seats with adjustable lumbar. I’m 6’1 and wife 5’6 and both find driving position and visibility excellent. A underrated little bus. Not fashionable but highly practical and built in Wolfsburg alongside the golf.

Touran is a seven seater mpv, did look at one last time, two big for my needs. time before that AP was to high. Am popping into my local vw dealer tomorrow to checkout trims etc sit in the seats and see what they can offer off the advance payment this time.. Soon be Q1 and time to order. so I’ll need to make a decsion soon but till new prices are released all could change…

Good luck in your search. The golf SV might be worth a look. Like you, seat, access and driving position will again be paramount in my New Year decision making, along with a big boot. I’m increasingly reliant on my hoist.

Thanks, yeah its such a big decsion and its getting harder to find the right car.. especailly if you want luxury seats and an automatic.. and acc as standard. Just popped to vw to have them change the wiper blades, first time in 9 years of being on the scheme and thats becasuse I’ve done more miles in my golf, than my first two cars on the Motability Scheme.

While i was there had a chat and don’t think the golfs even an option right now.. he didn’t even think the golf 8 be on the scheme till july at earliest if at all..

looked at t- roc but think right now tiguan is better value right now.. t cross to small, really liked the sel trim seats.. but only available in one engine the SEL TSI 4MOTION 2.0 ltr 190 bhp but 30.7 mpg or the R-LINE TECH TDi nicer trim on outside but seats are not as nice but better mpg 44.8 as only 150bhp. only two dsg options in higher trims.. Gonna organise a test drive after looking at the specs. did say they’d give £200 of the ap so with £600 gcb that helps abit. £2099 for sel £2199 r-line I hopes the price drops in jan, but i doubt it.. more likely they could disappear as well… coz thats common.
