i was shopping yesterday and gave this car a double look. At first i thought it was a BMW but it was actually the Renault Arkana. I really like the look of it and to be honest i know nothing about it but on looks only i think its a cracking looking car.

The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.

The latest Toyota Yaris always gets a second look from me. I think they look great.

Also, have you seen the pictures of the new Toyota Prius that’s coming out? It looks amazing compared to the current one. Apparently it’s not coming to the UK which is a shame if true

I had a similar experience the other day. Usually I don’t take too much attention to cars unless it’s something especially erotic or classic but I did a double take at a Citroen C5X in Blue. I’ve seen pictures of one but it looks far better in the metal,  it might have been the blue that caught my eye it really pops.

Not sure if this counts, the little Suzuki with round headlights, cameras for mirrors..

Don’t think I’d fit in there for long, but they do catch my eye every time..

Bryson, that Reanult is amazing in person. I’m not much a reanult tan but that car is beautiful. I saw it a few months ago and caught my eye and was really eye catching going down the street. It does look like a BMW X4. Beautiful car

Is this surprised in a good or bad way ?

All modern day Vauxhall are pretty bad to look at. Plus the Bentley Bentayga must have been developed by a communist car designer as test to see how bad a car must look before rich capitalists stop buying it!

But really for fans of 80’s hot hatches who remember the classic cars of that era, the Alpine R5 based on the new Renault 5 and comes with an OTT tail spoiler!

So many flash backs to that era when you could walk into a dealer and get something interesting off the shelf – Golf 16v, Astra GTE,  Renault 5 Turbo,  Ford Cosworth or an XR2, X3i etc. or even a Delta Integrale or Audi Quattro !

Showing your age, Steve.. I was way past drooling over hot cars by the 80s and only interested in sensible family cars. Best I had was a Citroen BX!

Had one of these new back in the day, all shiny just sitting in the front of the showroom.

I had a test drive and thought it was actively trying to kill me at every opportunity, so I signed for it there and then ?‍♂️?

@Wigwam classic Citroens were bonkers. In a great way! “French” styling, hydroelastic suspension, kooky interiors…  can’t speak of reliability (I’m too young, at almost 50, ha!), but almost every car of that era was a pile of rust just waiting to happen anyway

TBH the LeMans Special I had was mostly trouble free for the year I had it, the only issue I had was a damaged front cowl that caused some overheating but once noticed and fixed that problem went away and after a turbo and intercooler upgrade I loved it even more.

What I couldn’t get to grips with was the space shuttle cockpit amount of buttons, knobs and switched dotted seemingly randomly around the cabin and all the squeaks and rattles that 90’s plastics gave you! ?

Still, if I had it now it would be worth enough to pay my energy bills for a while!

The Renault Laguna Coupe (2008-2012) always catches my eye. Rare sight on the road these days though. The hatchback and estates were very mundane which makes the coupe even more remarkable IMO. Reminds me of Aston Martin from the rear, and looks good from all angles.

Would love to have one as a ‘weekend’ car if I could afford to own a second car!

Although many of the cars from the 80’s & 90s were virtually death traps,  very often problematic but at least they had character and were things you could desire or have fun with.

The days when people used to wash and wax their cars every weekend

As Brydo says at the start not many eye catching cars about. Soon we may have the Ioniq 6 in the UK but never on the scheme.   If I won the lottery and money was no object, can’t say there are many that I would rush out to buy.  Mercs, BMWs, Audis whilst nice are all the same. I would probably splash out on Ford Transit Nugget plus just for its practicalities and showing my age have a toilet on board, the ability to make a cup of tea and a nap

The Peugeot RCZ. Still turns my head every time I see one – especially in white with black alloys. Beautiful design piece…

Indeed. When my Mini Cooper was written off and I was driving around in a brand new Merc loaner waiting for Motability to sort out all the paperwork/claim etc, I saw a (then – newly released) C-HR on the road near me & thought Wow!, what a stunning looking car! Got home and went straight onto the Toyota dealer website near me & booked a test drive 48-hours later. Fell in love with it & had it for the following 3 years. Still love the look of them now… especially in that burnt orange & lime green colour.
