Has anyone here called around to get a cashback deal and the salesman is not there or on the phone so they take your number to call you back and you never hear again, that is annoying but also you ask for cashback towards advanced payment and you get i have never heard of this and the prices  are fixed and we do not make any money out of motability. You tell them can they match another dealers cashback and you do get some that will do that but the phoning around is really stressful to me, but if you do not ask you do not get that’s my motto.

It’s difficult sometimes not to take it personally, i mean here you are a potential customer and it seems they are doing so well they are not interested in your custom.

What i found less stressful is emailing various dealers using the locator pages on the manufacturers website. Takes far less effort, copy n paste the email and send to various dealers….. generally those that reply are interested in your business and makes for a good platform to start from.

That is a good bit of advice as the first cars I was offered I didn’t want as they were the wrong colour or spec or both.

Then out of the. Blue one emails me, a car with higher spec as it was a cancelled order due to wait, in the right colour I wanted and they offered me crazy money for my well used px people carrier. ( first motability car)  so it would never have happened without emails. ??

I wanted to add if you go to motability site and look up dealers it tells you the ones that do home visits i presume that does only mean a local dealer to you i think many years ago a dealer may have travelled up to 100 miles for a motability sale but not now.

I am coming to the opinion that the phone is no longer the best tool to contact any  company/organisation.

I know exactly what you mean daveblue.

Sadly, the UK motor industry seems to be awash with this.

I can honestly say that I have never had a call back as promised by a salesman. You have to chase them. It’s standard.

I work in sales (not in the motor trade) and if I treated my customers like this, I would lose orders hand over first. And to be honest, I’d expect to.

Sales service in the UK is nothing like it should be. In the US, it’s drummed into sales people from waiters to industry sales people that good service is rewarded. (Tips, bonuses, etc). Here it’s expected.

Hi Bionic  i have recently had great contact back from two mini dealers they seem more on the ball perhaps its due to brexit and mini need to keep sales up.

I’ve had fantastic service at Rybrook BMW in Shrewsbury second to none in fact, kept in touch when my ☓1 was being built and still phone me even after 12 months to check all is OK.

When I first visited Rybrook and I asked to speak to the motability specialist I was told all the sales team were trained in motability procedure which meant you didn’t have to wait for a specialist to be free, not like some dealer’s where I’ve had to wait 30 minutes or so.

We called into VW Chester about a month ago to check out the Tiguan R Line, the mota specialist there was a young guy by the name of Theo. Very professional guy, and knew the car very well too. Although on balance we’re so far leaning towards a lease extension I was pleasantly surprised to receive a follow up call from him today. It was a no pressure call just an easy follow up.

We’re likely to see what Q3 pricing is and then make a final decision on the lease extension.

It really is a shame, just as “disabled” should not be pigeoned holed car sales people are construed as willing to sell their grandmother, but luckily there are some great ones, an old saying is if you have a bad experience you tell 10 people yet a good experience you only tell two. Good service really should be the norm and some have it right. I’ve never met Trev one of our Moderators but funnily enough he used the same group as we did and share the showroom and they really was something different as a team hyundai/mazda/volvo. It’s really nice to hear good feed back sometimes we are all to keen to criticis. It’s good some great service still exists

I found by far the worst near me in west London where Citroen.

It was like pulling hens teeth getting a reply.

Then weeks and weeks later someone rings and apologises and asks if you’d like to book a test drive.

    No thanks.

Hi daveblue, apologies for the late reply. It’s been a few hard days.

Your experiences give me hope ?

I do love it that this forum has posts of excellent service. What I would say is, if you find a good salesperson, stay with them for as long as possible. I’ve been relatively close to the industry for many years and know that sales people tend to move around quite a lot. It’s really a shame.

    Have a great day ?

To give good service in any retail not just car dealerships makes good business sense, you need  your customers to keep coming back. It seems a lot of dealers have forgotten the basics.

    Absolutely.

All of the fantastic business plans that the exec’s come up with are often ruined by the first point of contact, the salesperson.

I fear at as long as a salesman can earn more money on a corporate or private sale, motability sales will always be there ‘just to make up the numbers’.

Wouldn’t it be great if Amazon sold cars, we could just click and collect or have delivery the next-day without a salesperson in sight.?

I would love to deal directly with the manufacturer via the Web or amazon but would you be able to negotiate a discount.
