Can anyone explain the variation in dealers who will or won’t cancel and reorder if AP drops.
I’m assuming that officially it’s a no no but I see several posts where it’s done.
I’m looking at ordering an Enyaq in a couple of weeks but current AP is £6500, Q2 2025 it was £3600, Q3 it disappeared.
Discussed with local dealer who responded with “absolutely not”
With things constantly changing I don’t want to miss out totally but if AP plummeted in Q2 it’d be nice to be able to fall back on.
Totally appreciate it’s a selfish thing because should AP increase your protected.
I just don’t understand why and how some do it but others won’t.

The official Motability line is that you pay the AP extant at the time you placed the order.
Some dealerships religiously stick to this policy.
However, in reality, it is five or ten minutes work for a dealership to cancel the original order on the Motability system and re-order it at the lower AP. You thus do not lose your place in the manufacturing queue as it is not cancelled on the manufacturer’s system.
Many dealerships are quite willing to do this, to keep the customer happy. However you cannot demand that they do. Speaking nicely to them might help! The dealership receives the same handling fee from Motability no matter which AP is paid.
What you can do if there is a drop in AP and the dealership refuses to re-order it on the Motability system, is cancel the order it total and re-order at another dealership at the new lower AP. However you will most likely lose your place in the build queue and in effect go back to square one waiting for your vehicle.
This is your perogative though as your contract only starts on input of the PIN on vehicle collection. Upto that point you have the right to cancel and walk away.
January 20, 2026 at 2:20 pm #332712Exactly as @BigDave says. If the dealer won’t play ball, go to another who will. They don’t lose a penny by doing so. £6,500 is a crazy AP and means that you are paying £18,500+ just to lease the car. I’d think that there is more chance that the AP will drop than rise. I can’t see many takers at that price.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for getting in touch,
Unfortunately, Motability monitor this now and have said categorically we cannot amend the advance payment once submitted.
We would be fined if it was to be known.
January 20, 2026 at 2:55 pm #332715Out of interest. What does the extra £5750 on the Advance Payment over the entry level Enyaq get you?

What the dealer is saying is technically correct, but most will do it on the quiet. Mine did it without me even asking them to! With such a vast AP I’d speak to another Skoda dealer. If not, as has been said, your only other option if the AP comes down is to tell the dealer that you will cancel and re order. You will probably find that their objection will evaporate at that point!

IMHO looks are 1, all the trim is black. Nice looking 20″ alloys. Dual motor so awd. Interior nicer (again my opinion) with alcantara sports seats then it’s got the Maxx pack which is £1700 option over regular sportline so things like HUD, remote parking, remote moving car with fob, illuminated front. Dynamic chassis control. Basically a lot of the electronic witchcraft stuff that’s bound to go wrong in years to come.
TBF it brings it up with levels of kit on Hyundai and Kia. And AP of Ioniq 5 is about on par with Enyaq but I got put off by scary amounts of ICCU failures.
January 20, 2026 at 4:32 pm #332731Please bare in mind, Enyaq’s are not a full AWD, it only comes on in certain conditions/modes and only up to 20kph.
HUD is standard on the Sportline along with the (remarkably underwhelming) Canton sound system,
Standard equipment (over Edition)
Wheels
• 20″ Vega black alloy wheels
• All-wheel drive (85x battery only)
Exterior

Interior

upholstery
• Front sports seats with integrated sports head restraints
• 3-spoke leather heated sports multifunction steering wheel

Entertainment & communication
• Head-up display
• CANTON sound system (12+1 speakers)
Comfort & convenience
• Area view camera
• Progressive dynamic steering
• Sports suspension
• Storage compartment for rear seats
• Boot net programme, cargo elements
& cable bag
• Variable boot floor
• Rear seat backrest releaseI have the 2023/24 85X with the Advanced pack, basically most of the above plus illuminated grille (waste of money) heated rear seats and heated front windscreen (not needed)
There’s no way I’ll be paying the current AP for a Sportline or Edition come renewal at the end of this year. I may look at the SEL with the Plus pack but will see what else is on offer.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 20, 2026 at 8:37 pm #332751This is getting out of hand with some dealerships, the motability contract does not start until you enter the pin, no matter what the dealership says.
As for dealerships wanting a down payment, this is just nonsense, they get payed when you collect the car at the same time you enter the pin.
It’s about time we start standing up for this system, it really is robust in our favour.
The biggest way to prove it is walk away from the dealerships who try it on to the ones that understand the rules and do play by the rules.
Sometimes we’re our worst enemy, we have this forum to create a good and not so good dealerships chart,
The government is strangling the life out of the system
I.e. bmw-ix1 ap 51/2k, kia ev5 nearly 6k prestigious cars my arse,
Happy hunting
