We have a Suzuki Across on the scheme, we absolutely love it it ticks all of our boxes, it is a shame Mobility no longer allow purchase of the leased vehicles, however they have always asked ridiculous over trade prices.
Is there a way I could buy back our lease vehicle through the supplying vehicle at a realistic price ?

I’m not sure whether or not dealers have the option to buy returned cars, or whether they all have to go to auction, but a dealer would have to add on their margin plus the cost of warranty etc which would probably make it as unviable for them as it always was for us when Motability used to quote over the top prices. No harm in asking though
When our previous car (BMW X1) was returned, I set up a Google Alert on the registration number. It was a couple of months later, but I finally got an alert that it was for sale at a BMW specialist in North London. Unfortunately, the auctions that Motability use are only open to registered traders, so even if you spot it there you can’t buy it.
March 15, 2026 at 1:59 pm #344955Suzuki Johnson dealership also buys in and sells used vehicles, on the originally lease the mobility salesman was very approachable. Ideally I would have like our vehicle at the end of the lease.
The Suzuki Across is a rebadged RAV4, Toyota has introduced a new RAV4, so the current UK Suzuki Across will cease production, we have already notice Suzuki main dealer heavily discounting new Across model by £10,000, the knock affect low used prices, which could be an option.
We may see Mobility reduce the Suzuki Across ridiculous £6999 AP as they did with the outgoing Mitsubishi Outlander and Ford Kuga.

March 15, 2026 at 2:36 pm #344959I kind of thought that when you drop a vehicle off at the end of the lease, the garage would have first dibs. But no
The vehicles are picked up by transporter and taken to the auction house.
March 15, 2026 at 2:37 pm #344960A lot of Motability cars go nowhere near an auction, Motability have their own website for selling Motability cars. It is very simple for the dealer you leave the car back to, if they are Registered buyers with Motability to buy the car.
If you are not going to get another car leave the car back to where you got it from but have a discussion with them about buying the car from them. They can get a price for it. If you agree the price with them you can then buy the car from them.

Motability dealer has first choce -Motability portal for used dealers -Auction if not sold
March 15, 2026 at 3:21 pm #344962Hi a great friend of mine is a dealer principal for a Peugeot dealership he told me that they used to purchase a lot of ex motability cars as generally clean and low mileage but it’s just not worth it anymore as the prices are way too high

The Suzuki has a 7 year manufactures warranty

Ah, yes. Just their mark up to take into account then.

Now the new model is coming out I am probably looking at £21,000/22,000 at this present time and £19,000/£20,000 for a 4 year old Across 30,000 miles.

March 15, 2026 at 6:18 pm #344970I am no longer with Motability after 12 years, handed my Qashqai back on the 7 th this month.
Two days before handback I had a call from the main dealer saying they had the part for the generator recall, which would take 9 hours, explained the car being returned on the 7th, and Motability wanted the recall done before it went back to them.
i got my good condition £250 this week, after seeing this post I looked on Autotrader and quickly found my car, because I noted the exact mileage. No pictures yet but gives the registration in the specifications.
It’s now for sale at Nissan main dealer in Letchworth some 175 miles from me.
Considering it was handed back on a Friday, needed more than a days work carrying out, and is up for sale 9 days later its not a bad turn around.
Tip, make a note of the exact mileage but be prepared to travel a long way.

In the near future we are going to have a test drive of a Kia EV3 with the intention to possibly change, however, in the back of my mind I no longer trust Mobility, I have little or no confidence in there flexible signed contract leases, it not worth the paper it is written on.
I really don’t fancy selling the touring caravan, I have found the insurance value of our current Suzuki Across 33 months old just under 19,000 miles £21,500, as we have an extension until August 2027, the mileage will have increased and the insurance value dropped especially as a new model as come out, I would estimate £18,500. I am still toying with the idea of popping into the Suzuki dealership to see if they will play ball in August 2027.

Toyota has ceased production of the Suzuki Across, along with the new RAV4. The decision to stop manufacturing the Across was part of a strategic shift by Toyota to focus on its own hybrid models.
My last 2 car dealers have always said they wouldn’t buy from Motability , due to high prices They want for an end of lease vehicle. Whilst they would likely buy it for you, if you speak with them, it may still be over priced. The offset of that is you know the car.
Good to hear your having second thoughts on selling the caravan 🙂

I could always have the towbar removed and buy a used Across, the offset is it was serviced by Mobility and oily rag and a good tyre kicking.
I am ok with this mileage, but the no extensions was a bit sneaky and can see this black box being forced upon us after they had finished there trials. Mobility just seems to have lost it and going downhill fast.
I can see it being only suitable for adapted low mileage vehicles going to the shops like a granny.

Suzuki offer similar to Toyota 10 year warranty service extensions, so long its got full service history, it would be no different to Motability full dealer service. The main downside, you haven’t owned a used one from new, but don’t really matter.
Its certainly still worth talking to the supplying dealer or Toyota and ask for some figurers if they bought it and the options of selling it back to you.
Theres also potential used RAV4 deals.
April 6, 2026 at 5:15 pm #351135I had the across for 4 months as a courtesy car. When I first heard I was getting a Suzuki I was less than impressed. But its genuinely one of the best vehicles I’ve ever driven and I loved it. Its everything I want in a vehicle, spacious, comfortable and is surprisingly fast for such a big car. I never charged it but even so I was amazed how good it was on petrol for such a large vehicle with a big engine.

Toyota tend to be a £3/4,000 higher for the equivalent Suzuki, however, they do come with a speed limiter and Toyota APP. At present the advertised retail market price of 4 year old Suzuki Across with 30,000 miles £21,500/£22,500, as I have no part exchange I could probably push the asking price dow. At present our vehicle is 18,960 miles by August 2026 approximately 22,000 miles, August 2027 approximately 28,000 miles.
I would happily pay £20,000/£21,000 for our vehicle at the end of it lease, I need to pop in a see the Suzuki man before I make any decisions.
