FYI for folks…

The bigger cars have pretty much disappeared from the scheme, making a boot hoist more and more problematic due to insuffiecient space. We’ve been looking at the Qashqai Tekna e-power and the Austral. Both dealers tried to tell us that a boot hoist would not fit.

I have set them straight. Our adaptations Installer (Ace Car Conversions in Kent – we’ve used them for our last 2 hoists) can fit a hoist to either car, and have done so very recently.

So, in case it is of use to folks here, the hoist details are:

Autochair Compact 80kg 4-way hoist. “Compact” being the key word here.

Its nice when others in a similar situation to you, take the effort to even acknowledge your post Confusicated ?

My DD uses a junior wheelchair but, we don’t require an hoist as of yet but, I agree that Motability seems to be suffering some kind of shrinkflation where its cars are concerned 🙂

Thanks. I hoped my post would be useful but, as nobody replied…

We need a hoist because, although my wife is the wheelchair user, I am also disable (osteoarthritis) and cannot lift a chair in and out of the car. This is not a situation that Motability seem to cater for.

Finding a car on the scheme that will take a hoist has been a real worry. We don’t want a WAV, which are basically custom vans of various sizes that are missing many of the tech and comforts of cars. It’s been a stressful few weeks.

I think that I’ve mentioned it here before but I’ve had an Autochair 40kg hoist fitted to my Skoda Enyaq iV
