Bings, bongs and whiplash

It’s been well discussed how utterly annoying all the modern “safety” features can be.  Binging at you for a smidge above the stupidly low speed limit, changing lane? Not on my watch, etc…

Yesterday saw that step up one touch too far.  Reversing into a parking space and the car felt the need to try and cause a bloody accident of its own.  So I was reversing into a space that had another row of spaces behind it and another pair of rows beyond that.  A car pulled out of the row beyond the one behind me, so my car being the super intelligent lump of metal it is decided the only course of action was to slam on the emergency anchors.  Yep, dead stop half in/half out of a parking bay.  Two of us in the car both jolted and left wondering what the problem was to see a spec of a car in the distance behind me.  F%<{|*ng car left us in the path of oncoming traffic the nearest of which was looking at me like I did that, meanwhile my wife was yelling at me for much the same reason.

I swear the next car will have a switch/button that disables all this nonsense before it’s the death of me.

We both woke up this morning with sore necks, took us a while to work out why, then it was that f%}{%ng car again.  Can attempted murder be grounds for an early termination?

Is it by any chance a Hyundai? They are the masters of nanny statery. Ours bings and bongs continually and drives me ruddy mad, especially as I’ve no idea what half of them are for!

…And when it slams on the brakes, you can’t quickly move the car pretentending nothing has happened, because it holds onto the brakes for a few seconds.

Yup been there done that. I now have the steering wheel set to vibrate and forwatds/reverse emergency breaking set to warn only. Whils’t the cars still screams at you, it doesn;t give you whiplash!

Ummm yes my BMW did this to me last week. I though I had hit something. No just decided to stop me dead in reverse. Was the hedge at the Dr’s. I’ll drive in next time. No whiplash though due to uber BMW seat.

It absolutely is, Ioniq 5.  It’s bad enough when it warms me about the car that’s right in front or the bloody twigs sticking out the hedge. 😡

I’ve got it set for vibrate and warning, I got none of that though, just bang on the brakes.

Yeah, we’re not allowed uber BMW seating anymore. 😡
