I had to buy mats for my Audi and VW. I got some with my Volvo. They are usually an extra.

I got mats with my Pug 308 Prem. With the BMW and with the ford Focus and so on. Ask at the time of ordering.

@martinod Good question. I believe the Citroen Berlingo doesn’t come with car mats as standard! So probably not Arnold Clark’s fault but Citroens for being so stingy!

Mums Vauxhall Crossland didn’t come with mats from Arnold Clark either and they want to charge £37.50, so she got a set of ebay.

That said here latest Kona electric came with a set from Holdrofts but not sure if thats becaus it’s an EV. So to did my Tucson PHEV fron another dealer.

I’m on my 7th motability vehicle and never had floor mats with any of them also the last 4 I’ve had to pay for fuel in them at handover.

Some manufacturers include mats as part of the spec, some dealers supply them as a complimentary add on but it’s entirely at their discretion. I would have discussed this when ordering, when you have a bit of leverage. Most dealers wouldn’t risk losing a sale for the sake of a set of mats.

It depends on the actual dealer and on the model of car. Some will provide them like on my ex30, they come as standard being the ultra trim. On other cars they haven’t and some dealers have included them as they do a tank of fuel or some charge you for the fuel. Others just don’t, unless you haggle with them for them.

I have a mach e loan car, it has no mats, it doesn’t really matter as I don’t own the car. Although I had one last summer and it had a hole in the carpet near the peddles. So if that happens who’s fault is it and would you buy that car used if it did. So should MB be including mats as they do metallic paint, which cost more. To protect there asset.

My current car came with mats because of the trim level but last one didn’t.

I find it odd that MB don’t insist on mats coming with their cars as standard, like they do with paint finishes, or at least they use to, because my last car not being supplied by the dealer meant when the car went back 4 years later it had a hole in the carpet where my right foot pivots between brake and accelerator.

Because the car was not a popular model mats where very expensive so I gave them a miss but my car before that with no mats they were cheap because it was a popular model so I paid for them myself. That said I’m sure the dealer would of supplied them had I thought to ask when ordering the car but mats are the least of my worries when ordering a car so gets forgotten.

End of the day GCB was still intact so hay-ho.

My previous car , Mercedes B Class, came with mats but my current motor, Honda ENY1, didn’t. To be honest it isn’t a deal breaker for me.

Our Ford Kuga and Mitsubishi Outlander came with matts, our current vehicle Suzuki Across floor matts came as an extra, so I brought some genuine ex display one online, just my luck the Suzuki dealer supplied genuine Suzuki matt free of charge.

I have since brought some genuine Suzuki rubber matts and a boot liner expensive but much better than the standard carpet matts.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Wow, I’m amazed that some people would take delivery of a brand new car and use it for 3 years without buying some mats.  I ask when ordering and even then only one dealer has ever thrown them in for free. They almost always say that they will be charged for unless the manufacturer includes them (which they very rarely do.) The Audi mats I bought were around £80 and the VW mats were £70. Sure you could cheap-out and buy some spurious ones online for twenty quid but I like to fit the proper OEM mats.

Motability should insist that dealers fit mats as surely worn & filthy carpets will impact on the price they achieve at auction once the lease is finished.

Must admit, I have never had a problem with £20-£30 tailored fit mats, as I often find them better quality and always found the fit is the same as genuine.
