Well its only 18 days to the next quarter are we going to see an AP increase to offset the dreaded July quarter, my window opens on the 9th May 2026 or I could wait until 10th August 2027 by then the dust would have settled.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Did you really mean August 2027 or should that be August 2026? I would hopefully expect ‘the dust would have settled’ by the former, not necessarily the latter!
Bearing in mind the VAT on AP’s and Insurance Premium Tax takes effect on Motability vehicles ordered on or after 1st July 2026, you may well be better served ordering prior to this date (unless you really want to fund Rachel from Accounts with some VAT).
Obviously there is the chance of the AP on a specific vehicle coming down on 1st July (start of Q3) but that’s the usual gamble.
March 14, 2026 at 10:50 am #344891Our window actually opens on Monday.
Although I’ve asked the Motability Foundation to reconsider our request for support towards a longer range 7 seater EV. They said it could take about a month for a decision.
If they can’t help, we’ll probably go for a Skoda Enyaq instead and hopefully get it ordered before the end of the month.
I’ve also heard prices might increase later in the year because of the July tax changes affecting the Motability scheme, so we’re trying to decide sooner rather than later.
March 14, 2026 at 10:51 am #344892Given that, with a few exceptions, APs have been on an upward trajectory for several years, I don’t expect that April will be any different. I can’t see them slashing APs only to hike them again in July, so I would expect ‘business as usual’ next quarter.
Given that the scheme continues to go downhill fast (unless you want an EV and / or something from the Far East) then, if something takes anyone’s fancy before July, and is in a position to order, I’d crack on and not delay but, as always, making sure that the dealer understands that you’d want any downward AP movements adjusted pre delivery. Obviously the right to cancel and re-order always remains as well.

Dave due to exceptional circumstances we have been offered a conditional 12 month extension, not sure whether to order in the April quarter or use the extension and sit it out until August 2027.
One alternative is to sell off the touring caravan next year, on the 10th August 2027 walk away from the scheme, as we will no longer be towing our mileage will have dropped from 8,000 to about 5,000 miles a year, we could buy a secondhand Nissan Leaf or similar EV and avoid all this hassle.

Right. With a potential 15 month order window due to your lease extension, it really is down to you.
As previously stated, VAT (on AP and Insurance Premium Tax) is due to be added onto Motability scheme pricing from 1st July 2026.
As @glos-guy has stated, pricing is generally on an upward trajectory, so that does point to ordering sooner rather than post 1st July.
Unless you have a crystal ball or can read tea leaves, future pricing beyond 1st July is uncertain. There may be a degree of absorption of the VAT increase, but to what extent no one knows.
Likewise no one knows what vehicles may come on or go off the scheme in your 15 month window. Something may appear that could blow the socks off current offerings.
However, for a bit of certainty, if there is something that takes your eye and is at the right price on the scheme now, it could be worthwhile ordering asap.
Or, as you say, leaving the scheme could be your best option. It depends if you do get rid of your caravan and your anticipated future usage etc.
It really is down to you.

March 14, 2026 at 12:33 pm #344899I did fancy the Kia EV4 GT Line £499 but it was removed from the scheme, every quarter without fail every vehicle I shortlisted the AP have rocketed, with the no lease extension there is no way I would pay an high AP upfront, now they want to track us

March 14, 2026 at 12:48 pm #344900As my target date is 2nd April I’d be quite happy to see the Inster go down!
March 14, 2026 at 12:54 pm #34490212th of may for me that’s the date the order window opens so April the first is without doubt of great interest price wise I have been to a few showrooms if only to see what’s on offer at the moment and so far a little underwhelming if I’m honest but I’ll find something no doubt
March 14, 2026 at 1:14 pm #344903April 19th is when the window opens for me and on balance I intend to order as soon as I can find a car I like. Don’t have very much for an AP so hoping that at least 1 of the cars I’ve got on my long list is still within reach. If not I’ll keep my eyes open for any dealer offers which are rare in this neck of the woods (Cambridgeshire/Suffolk border).
Worst case scenario is I have to wait for Q3 price revisions which I feel is very unlikely to have too many mid-size SUV’s at a low AP so as with fozzie April 1st is when I will be sat waiting with bated breath and a little trepidation for the new prices to go live!
