I’ve managed to get the app installed and set on face recognition. At face value it looks pretty self explanatory, although you would need more than a minute to go through it, but I was wondering if any one had noticed or came across any problems I should be aware of.

Very occasionally it’ll lose contact with the car which requires a hard reset to sort it, I’ve had it twice in 13 months.
To reset there’s a pinhole on the left of the dash above the camera button, press that and the infotainment screen will go black as it resets, only takes a minute and can be done while driving as the main screen isn’t affected.
Also the latest software update means the buttons for the passenger seat heating and ventilation often dissappear from the climate screen. A short press on the voice control button on the steering wheel and you can tell it to “activate passenger seat ventilation (or heating)” and include “to level 1” or whatever level you want or it’ll go to 3 itself. Usually after doing it by voice the buttons reappear for a short time. Hyundai are aware and hopefully will get it sorted soon 🤞⏳️ 🗓 🤷♂️
August 9, 2025 at 3:18 pm #310987@Rhodgie thanks for that, is it only available on EVs or do plug in hybrid get it too and is it free for the three years of lease as the xc40 wasn’t?

A couple if times its not been able to connect, but later on its fine. Never had to do any resets. Not had problems with menus disappearing either. As suggested, voice activation works fine. Its satnav is useless, I connect the phone and use Googlemaps or Waze.
August 9, 2025 at 3:59 pm #310994Don’t know about the PHEVs but the Pro version of Bluelink is free for 3 years and Lite for 10, can’t remember the differences just now but I know it would be worth my while paying for Pro cause I use it alot.
August 9, 2025 at 6:39 pm #310997The only problems I have had with Bluelink, is it shows range in km rather than mi and using the app for schedule charging is, as much use as a chocolate fireguard! However mine is a PHEV, so I’ll base the following on my mums 24 plate Kona electric
I’m confused by what Plus & Pro really offer over lite for value for money.
Bluelink LITE: The base package includes essential features such as Connected Routing for optimised navigation, Voice Commands for hands-free control, and Over-the-Air (OTA) System Updates to ensure that all vehicle systems, such as those related to charging and onboard safety, are running at optimum efficiency.
Bluelink PLUS: This tier adds enhanced functionality to Bluelink LITE by including Remote Services—allowing drivers to lock, unlock, and control their vehicle’s climate via smartphone. Live Services also deliver real-time traffic and weather updates, helping drivers stay informed on the road and save precious time.
Bluelink PRO: Offering comprehensive connectivity, the premium Bluelink PRO package includes all previously mentioned functionalities and more advanced features such as automatic updates to vehicle maps and infotainment systems, delivering the latest features, as well as integrated music streaming—no connected smartphone required.
Hyundai’s ccNC cockpit allows for OTA map and infotainment updates and does so frequently in mums Kona and my Tucson.
My mums Lite version in her Kona allows for climate settings to be controlled from the app, along with opening/closing windows and *lock and unlock from the app. It also offers real time traffic (green, amber red) and rerouting options.
*Does lock unlock refer to digital key 2, which needs a NFC and optional at time of purchase?
As far, as I can see “Pro” offers to stream music without your phone, as the only benefit, if you can call it that and onlu useful if you forget your phone and you have subscriptions with said prviders. Roll on Android Automotive…

Well, that’s weird and a bit annoying. I collected my Ioniq 5 in March ’25 and looking at the app, my Bluelink Pro expires in October ’25. So you’ve done very well to get yours free for so long!
August 9, 2025 at 7:07 pm #310999*Does lock unlock refer to digital key 2, which needs a NFC and optional at time of purchase?
No. It refers to remotely locking/unlocking the car by phone, it pushes a notification if you forgot to lock the car.
edit:
You also got something wrong there. If your mum got a map/infotainment update OTA, she does not use Bluelink Lite, but Bluelink Pro. That would also explain the traffic updates.
Pretty sure the disconnect here is the fact that Hyundai did some confusing skew-rearrangement recently.

Your mums Kona has 3 years Bluelink Pro.
edit2: personally, since i’m using Spotify through Android Auto, i’d opt for the “Plus” variant. Live traffic updates saved me bum quite a few times (.. M4 woes), so i wouldn’t want to be without that. Map updates i can do myself, don’t need them to push it – the landscape around here doesn’t change so vastly that i can’t navigate with a 3 year old Sat Nav – and proper relevant infotainment updates (to fix issues) are still mandatory. I test drive the car as is, not based on what might get pushed OTA further down the line.
But remote conditioning and live traffic updates are the two things i wouldn’t want to be without.
Last edit:
Rhodgie got it wrong there. Or rather, it’s outdated information. New Hyundais do not come with 3 year free Bluelink Pro anymore, only 6 months. His car, would be my guess, falls into the “24 plate” skew-change – hence why he got 3 years.
Brydos Ioniq 6 should have only 6 months Pro, if Hyundais webpage is correct. NanasRob71 short duration seems to confirm that.

Unbeknown to me, my Tucson comes with pro from 13-06-24 – 01-10-25 (16months), the app is saying it will convert to lite on 01-10-25, however:
“All Model Year 24 vehicles onwards come with a free 10-year subscription to Bluelink LITE, a 3-year Bluelink PLUS package and a six-month complimentary Bluelink PRO subscription, enhancing your driving experience and allowing you to experience what you may need in the future. ”
“What happens when Bluelink free trial expires?
When your 6-month free trial expires, you will be able to choose the most suitable package for yourself in the Bluelink Store. If you do not select Bluelink PRO, you will automatically be moved to Bluelink PLUS for 3 years, and then to Bluelink Lite. This will remain free for 10 years.”All I need is live traffic and the plus pack will do, however as above it will downgrade to lite, so something to keep an eye on!
August 9, 2025 at 9:02 pm #311005Does it though?
Not to my understanding, you should downgrade to plus, not lite. Once your pro-trial runs out, you don’t do anything, and should move to plus.
Not even sure how you got 16 months of anything, that number turns up absolutely nowhere on the Hyundai website for anything, so that’s odd lol.
That all said.
Plus is £29 a year. I’d spend it, it’s not the world for the amount of convenience it provides. That said, it is a bit of a flustercuck – could’ve just made it like everyone else, 3 years of the “highest tier”, then toilet-tier until you pay. It’s almost a bit of a BMW style pee-take where you buy a brand spanking new car, and don’t even get the basic functionality with it (though BMW was more egregious with their “heated seat subscription” nonsense”. Give new cars at least 3 years of full functionality before you take features away.

I agree, it definately says 3 years plus, even in the pricing guide at the bottom of the page, so I expect it to be the case or else😂
I’ll put a Bluelink screen shot up tomorow – Though with the PHEV, Hybrid and ICE, remote sevices are useless other than lock/unlock and they have the cheak to charge full price!
Exactly BMW through and through!

You can pre-condition PHEVs too. 😉

Not this one – It relies on the old fasioned way!
No PTC heater, rather it starts the engine at high tickover – coolant runs past a bypass valve HEX in the exhaust which heats quickly and provides heat and engine shut off after 5-10m, Repeat. 🙂

Open the windows or again the old fashioned way of starting and select AC and come back 5 min later!
If I think on, Ill show you the app, with most remote options in light grey/ non operable, even arse coolers aren’t availabe remotely.

Very odd timescale. I find it pretty useless, so barely use it, but some of that is probably down to user incompetence, although there are lots of glitches.
Like @kezo one frustration is that range (particularly EV range) sometimes shows in km rather than miles, even though both the app and the car are both configured as miles.
Sometimes, like @Rhodgie if I’ve had my phone switched off, it doesn’t connect with the car when I next get in it (with the phone back on), but it seems to have sorted itself out the next day without me doing anything?
My biggest bugbear with the car (other than all the ruddy bings and bongs) is that I use Amazon Music and it is beyond hopeless in the Hyundai. It almost never works as it should. The car was serviced last week and had a software update. Sadly, it did not help this issue. As to whether that’s down to Bluelink, Amazon Music or Apple Car Play (or a combination) I have absolutely no idea, but I end up just listening to the radio and wishing that the car had a CD player!
The only areas where I find Bluelink to be remotely useful are the alerts when the car has finished charging and if I’m going somewhere new the next day I look it up on the map function on the app and ‘send’ the destination to the cars sat nav. I find that works well.
I suspect that with an EV there are extra functions that might be more useful, but I won’t be paying for anything after 2nd Oct, I’ll just use whatever it defaults to.

A shot in the dark, it could be the internet connection dropping from the car. I don’t know how you’ve set it up, but if Amazon Music goes through Bluelink, it’ll use the cars e-sim for the internet connection/streaming. Do you get any kind of message, or is it simply refusing to start a song with no comment?
If it’s anything like VWs coverage, it’ll drop basically as soon as you’re 12 feet away from the next cell tower.
That one would really frustrate me, i haven’t found a radio station in the UK that serves my “taste”. Not many people listen to smooth jazz followed by Lynyrd Skynyrd, followed by Final Fantasy songs, followed by Rammstein, followed by some 90s-’00s EDM, followed by Del Shannon, lol.

Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.August 10, 2025 at 12:00 pm #311041I think it accesses Amazon Music through Apple Car Play. As to whether that’s involving BlueLink I’ve no idea. I get the main menu but when, for example, I select ‘Artists’, I just get this. If I press retry it just sticks with the same message. Sometimes if I get as far as selecting a track it will play something else altogether that isn’t even in my playlist. Hence why I tend to stick with the radio!

Have you had any OTA updates, towards back end of last year up to first quarter of this. If not it will be done when your car goes for service.
Hyundai Forum post:
“My 2025 Hyundai Tucson Amazon App now works and (touching a lot of wood) does so quite reliably. Have had an OTA software update which added the SoundCloud music App and that works as well.”
August 10, 2025 at 2:26 pm #311051My Ioniq 5 is also a weird timeframe, collected car on 28 Dec ’24, my Bluelink Pro states an expiry date of 6 October 2025. Just over 9 months.
Sod paying £99 a year to Hyundai for Pro – it only offers Amazon Music (crap without a full subscription to Amazon) and not much else of any interest, unlimited data I already have on my phone, likewise Spotify etc.
Plus is good to have, I use the remote services quite a bit, plus it reminds me my car is unlocked or allows me to reset my AC charging limits (as I did this morning while eating my breakfast). Still annoyed it costs £30 a year. It’s crap that Hyundai charges for an app to allow the likes of OTA upgrades when you buy a £55k car. No wonder so many people just use their phone for Carplay/Android Auto.
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

Do all other apps work properly?
Spotify (particularly with non-downloaded songs), Google Maps (staying online/no offline maps) etc?
From reading through the forums, this seems to be in particular an issue with Apple/carplay.

I can’t compare, as I’m Android and don’t use Amazon music, however have you tried wired connection in the left USB port and ensured its on media (orange light)

But even in germany and france, most people seem to have issues with iOS, going as far as rejecting plugged in iPods too.
I mean.. easy solution. Get an android phone, lol. Disregarding that, i don’t think it’s an issue in particular with the car, but iOS. Could check if you’re on iOS 18.6 – either update TO it, or try an earlier version. Latest iOS update included something in regards to third party apps, european regulation etc – which could either fix the issue, or BE the issue.
Or be completely unrelated, of course. But, generally speaking, the issue is somewhere in the interaction between iOS and the car.
