Any musicians or failed musicians on here ?
When I was a teenager, I followed the Shadows, especially Hank Marvin, and I Imported a brand new US Stratocaster direct from the Fender factory in California in approx 1962 ,it was finished in Sunburst with ,unusually for the time, a maple fingerboard . I think that it cost me £164, Plus carriage , and i do remember that it took around 5-6 weeks for delivery . I had a very well used Vox amp via the Exchange & Mart, to go with it. A chap from Gamlin’s music shop in Cardiff had the Strat. set up for me.
I also had a new Jumbo 12 string acoustic , paying £25 in 1967, followed by a new Squier Strat;. made in Japan in red with a rosewood fingerboard+a Fender practice amp.which I still have.
Didn’t really play much for the next 25years, until the 1990`s when I had a brain storm and bought a new USA Fender Strat Ultra Plus in Sonic Blue , with a maple fingerboard ,but about 18 years back, Parkinson’s took my fingers and my ability to play , so I sold it , but at twice the price I paid for it, so all was not lost?
Then just before Covid struck, the wife bought me a Timberland electro- acoustic jumbo , which i still have , but is basically unused ) and as a therapy and improved meds, 4 of us old Parky guys , for the last 3 months or so, are learning or relearning to play ,( we are known as ‘ the Ol Guits’) and the therapy appears to be working, so I now have a Hofner Shorty travel guitar which I take with me almost everywhere , and my favourite of all time, a new Custom made heavy Relic Stratocaster hand build by Swirl guitars Liverpool, which i play, attempt to play ,every day!
