I really like my Scenic, but unfortunately hit a deer at 12:15 this morning an hour from home.Does this look like they should be able to fix it?
The process to get sorted seems ok, bar a couple of issues….I wasn’t told I could get a taxi at 12:15, I was told Id get recovered to my house between 4:30 and 7:30. This didn’t happen, and 6:05 I rang for an update as time had slipped to 9:30 – 14:30, when they said they’d get me an uber.
I now have a Cupra Born V1 hire car, the Scenic is still waiting to be collected, but I told the police where I’d left the car. So a mixed bag of support, but Im back on the road, or will be after a good nights sleep as not slept as I was expecting to get picked up haha

That could go either way, new bumper, grill, light clusters, alloy, possible wing replacement, repairs to the suspension and any other unseen issues will rack up a bit of a bill. Don’t be disappointed at that not coming back to you.
Honestly, would be gutted, 50k miles in 19 months, its been faultless 🙁
passenger side door has been squeezed so doesnt open smoothly now, and the washer fluid container broke, and fairly certain as I was clearing the road I was throwing wires to the side.
Im dreading them coming back saying sorry its a write off 🙁
Much of it looks superficial with possibly front slam panel, but you can never really tell untill you start to look closer & taking bits off
possibly, it will depend on my allowed mileage, if they do bump it up as most is for work then I may be better staying, but will see whats what at decision time so to speak

I don’t think the deer 🦌 done that to the Alloy 😂 a few kerbs maybe.
1 Curb, after Id hit the deer as i lost control a bit and went along the curb, least of my worries tbh 🙂
If they do repair it you will have a big end of lease excess to pay if you keep up the same rate of miles
In your shoes I would be thinking a write off would be the best outcome and that this episode happened just at the right time 🙂
I’d accounted for approx £1,500 total.
If we do go with motability again, based on calcs by Big Dave (I think) on a previous thread, Im looking at approx £1,250 a year on current mileage estimates.
Depending on AP, it may still be worth doing, especially after the accident, as that will see an increase in my premium for insurance if I left.
Big decisions for a lot of people I think with regards to next leases, a lot will come down to APs etc, and deals available privately at time of leaving.

The least of your worries are increased insurance costs due to an accident. A few hundred on insurance you will not miss.
When researching the tesla model 3 as i didnt know what ncb was possible, first quote with zero ncb was £800, and changing it to 5 years ncb it was £600. Easy to check.
If you are still working, buying outright should be a cheaper option, maybe a 3 year old scenic, low miles…a look on Autotrader doesnt cost anything .
30k mileage becomes a blocker on many leases.
Model 3 is 16.5p+VAT for over 20k miles and its £335 a month (3 year, cheapest variant).
And, tbh, I absolutely will miss circa £600 (more now) as just because I say we may keep with motability, it doesnt mean that finding £1250 a year is easy, just means that our situation means that we need to.
buying outright may be an option, but this current episode has highlighted the benefits of what motability offer, even with the downsides. Plus doing £30k a year means I dont want to be keeping any car for too long, and a £23k with £4k down over 4 years is circa £500 a month. (gap insurance, insurance, roadside recovery all add to this too)
I am not adverse to buying a car, but where as a month ago I was certain Id be leaving motability, weighing up the costs is showing me there isnt as much difference potentially as I thought, and its the AP thats really where the difference lays (for my current circumstances)
ok, car finally got to the repair place, Sunday evening, they looked at it yesterday, and reckon 7 days to repair.
Im guessing Im going to lose my GCB as I bet they wont fix the allow haha.
Feel quite fortunate that Im not going to be sat waiting for spares though, as everwhere I looked and say similar damage they were saying 2-3 months for parts (though that would have helped my excess mileage a bit 🙂
