I think we should make this a regular award when someone includes a rarely used word in a post.
I was reading a post from MFillingham and noted the word “purporting”. Now it’s not that I’ve never heard the word before or seen it used but it’s a great word and maybe got a few searching for its meaning.
Keep up the good work MF and for those in the dark the word means, quick google search lol
In a legal context, “purporting” means to claim or to give the outward appearance of being something, often with the implication that this claim may not be true. A document or action “purporting” to be official or valid is one that claims to be so, but its actual authenticity or legal effect is questioned or uncertain
