PaulLovely looking car and nice edition to scheme. For me though interior and spec is lacking but should please those who prefer badge over practicality.
I will guess this will leave scheme in days so dont hang about .

MaccaAn awful lot of money for not an awful lot of car. Love the design, but AP aside, its just too small for our needs.
November 19, 2022 at 10:40 am #200939It’s a welcome addition.
I can see why it’s on the scheme. The Edizione Speciale offers more for less cash, so can’t see private buyers considering this Ti trim level.
Although it might look negative when a manufacturer only offer Motability their models that they can’t shift. It’s better than them not offering anything at all.
There’s some features that are a must for me, such as Adaptive cruise control and the four-way lumbar would be welcomed.
November 21, 2022 at 12:14 pm #201054£3999 AP and 30mpg, ouch.
November 21, 2022 at 12:40 pm #201059The fuel consumption is listed as 47.1mpg for combined.

ldc7080apologise for correction, usually i dont bother as i make more than most. but its Alfa ?
November 21, 2022 at 7:28 pm #201089As well as being added to Motability, there are good deals to be had for private customers on the Tonale, so Alfa is obviously keen to get more of them on our roads. Having seen a few, I like the look of it, but I’ve never liked that alloy wheel design with the circles that is an Alpha trademark. I’ve no idea whether it would be big enough for us, but the lack of standard equipment on the base Ti model may be a show stopper. However, we don’t need to start looking for another year or so and, as others have said, it will probably have been removed from the scheme within a few months anyway ? . Great to see something new and different on the scheme though ?
November 22, 2022 at 10:51 am #201120As others said, it’s a good looking car, but the asking price is way too high. Add to that the pretty predatory option list, and i don’t want one just out of principle.
A company that shifted 25.000 cars in total in 2021 isn’t in the position to shaft customers by asking £2600 for something reasonably basic as heated seats. I don’t mind paying for the privilege, we did so with our GTE order – but we paid £285 iirc.
Especially considering these “bundles” are just idiotic, you’re required to take a completely unrelated upgraded sound system if you want heated seats. I could understand the argument for the optional leather seats being required (they are), but adding another grand just to shift an option that almost certainly is going to delay delivery of your car (HK has trouble delivering and are a reason for lengthy delays in VWs etc).. nah.
Even better is the tech pack or whatever they call it, where they bundle front sensors with a 360 camera. If i have a 360 camera, i don’t need parking sensors anymore – they should very obviously be standard.
A much better equipped Ateca Xperience Lux is like £6000 cheaper, at roughly the same size.
edit: i don’t actually think it’s particularly pretty on 18″ wheels either, needs at least the 19″ wheels.

Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.November 22, 2022 at 11:21 am #201123Well, I test drove yesterday and ordered in Red. Not perfect, slower and not as smooth as my current BMW X1 2.oD Sport by a long way and although interior is very stylish the build quality is nowhere near the same. I don’t need heated seats so options prices don’t really affect me – but I agree the pricing of options is bonkers. Only disappointment is privacy glass is not standard on the Ti and is not an option.
The AP of £3999 is steep but I think that is the sign of the times, I know I could get more tech / spec for less with Seat or Skoda (Ateca / Karoq) but if I’m honest I let my heart rule my head a bit……. I’ve always wanted an Alfa and think it looks great in the flesh! The spec level is above my current BMW – over and above include front sensors, rear camera, adaptive cruise control, digital dash…. so I don’t feel that short changed. 5 to 6 month lead time apparently…….. we will see.
November 22, 2022 at 5:25 pm #201146Good for you, I’m very envious. I’d love one but just can’t afford the AP and I’d need the heated seat option so it would be too much. I saw one at a petrol station and thought it looked fantastic. I hope it’s sooner for delivery than you were quoted.
November 22, 2022 at 7:49 pm #201152I have heard Italian cars can be quite cramped for people over 6ft, could I ask what the leg room is like? Thanks. (My closest Alfa garage is over 70 miles away and was wondering whether it was worth the trip!)
November 22, 2022 at 9:32 pm #201157I’m 5’10” and it felt ok, seemed like plenty of height adjustment in the drivers seat. Rear legroom looked good.
November 23, 2022 at 8:01 am #201170I am 6’1” tall and used to have an Alfa Mito. No issues at all with space or head height in that model.
November 23, 2022 at 10:38 am #201174Thanks for the replies, my main concern is the seat goes back far enough to allow the right leg to be straight to the accelerator without needing to bend at the knee to much.

AdrianI have issues driving any car whose name could be pronounced “Toe Nail”
Especially if in Alfa style it breaks down a lot. Then it would be a manky toe nail 😀

Reliability studies over last few years suggest Alfa is no worse or even better than the German brands like BMW and Audi.
As for the name …. before my BMW I had the Ford Focus ST estate diesel on the scheme….. my brother decided to name it the STD…… So could be worse LOL

Alfa was ranked high for reliability, with a score of just under 93 per cent placing it eighth. The brand’s German rivals Audi, BMW and Mercedes were much further down the list.
November 23, 2022 at 11:42 pm #201235I had my Alfa Mito for 3 years and there were no reliability issues at all. A friend had a cloverleaf about 30 years ago and it was beset with issues but decades have passed and build quality and reliability are excellent nowadays.

Alfa Romeo is one of the most unreliable brands in the UK. Every single outlet that measures the reliability objectively paints a “bad” picture – i’m assuming that you refer to the single one that’s just an opinion poll. I wish people would add some meat to their statements in form of a source.
Not that BMW, Benz and Audi are the most reliable cars on the market, they’re clearly not – but Alfa Romeo is worse. Considering how “awful” it is to own one of the german brands due to their unreliability according to some here, it’s pretty odd to see people celebrate brands that are factually worse.
Not as bad as Land Rovers, mind. The entire trope that an Alfa will weigh 50lbs less the next time you get in it because it rusted away is of course not true anymore, but neither is the reason as to why Alfa was held in high regards either. They’re not overly pretty anymore, and the engine that made Alfa famous and desirable (Busso V6) stopped being produced 20 years ago.

Ronnie pickeringI don’t care if it’s the most reliable car in the world and lasts for ever. I would not drive a car called a Toe Nail
November 24, 2022 at 1:56 pm #201271It’s Italian – pronunciation is Ton-Ali.
Having said that I once owned a Fiat Regata and it did not take long to be called the Regret-a.
November 28, 2022 at 10:42 pm #201499I’d buy this tomorrow if I came with rear tints, I’m really privacy conscious about my kids. Plus there doesn’t seem to be dealers anywhere near me.
🙁
November 28, 2022 at 10:46 pm #201500£170 from a professional Tint Fitting company solves your privacy concerns and you’d be able to pick a darker tint than the ones Alfa fit ??
