Slightly GingerHi went to see a Ford dealer in North East England this morning to see if we can sort out a replacement new, car for my parents as their Touran is currently being sprayed Unicorn colour by the Elves in NeverNeverland
Was told by the chap at the dealer that if I wanted to order a Ford focus (all types) , Mondeo or Kuga with an automatic transmission it would mean a delivery time of around JULY NEXT YEAR
Totally gobsmacked to be honest.
Sorry if this is common knowledge

MikeI would have told him forget it all automatic Fords have poor mpg
October 31, 2018 at 5:33 pm #64062Cannot agree Mike our Ford Kuga uses only a little more fuel than our Honda CRV and Audi A4
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Slightly GingerThis was from a motability specialist at Jennings Ford Middlesbrough He was very nice etc but said e a toy what I reported It might be different for other dealers and it would be interesting to see what they say.
Thanks

Slightly Ginger<p style=”text-align: left;”>My father had an old Cmax automatic years ago (not duel clutch) 2ltre and it was very thirsty.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>In contrast I had a grand Cmax dual clutch and it was very good for MPG, despite being 150ps and a 2.0 diesel.

I think modern automatics esl. Dual clutch systems seem to be pretty good economically

MikeI’ve had Fords with the power drive auto gearbox no match for the VW dsg auto gearbox for mpg imho
October 31, 2018 at 7:14 pm #64075The VW dsg is far superior to Fords own powershift, Ford are ditching the powershift and outsourcing using an 8 speed gearbox for 2019, I think the Fiesta is already using it.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

PhilThat is odd as I went to trust fords in epsom.
And the salesman said 10-14 weeks same as all new fords?
Nothing about next july.

Slightly GingerThat’s what really annoys me about some car dealerships. They’ll say anything. Lol

AnonymousI had a grand C max on a 2016 plate which was the first year to have the new dual clutch gear box fitted.
Faultless economical gearbox
Coupled with the 1.5 diesel
Best to have owned a new ford auto before slagging them off
Fantastic car/comfortable/great performance/very reliable
18000 miles of trouble/stress free driving
Ford needs to bring the AP down quite a lot on some of their models imo
October 31, 2018 at 9:17 pm #64089Call the Jeremy Kyle show and get that dealer on the lie detector….. sounds to me they have some manuals to shift.
When i hear stories like this i wonder that the response would be if you emailed the same dealership and asked the same question, but requested for them to only reply by email……. once the response is in written form, answers can be very different……. to be there that is same in a lot of businesses, not just dealerships.

MickyUmmmm.
My MONDEO St edition auto estate Is magic I love it ,get about 45mpg ,dealer says that will improve ???, Reviews say all show no extra go ,don’t believe it ,with sports suspension can do over 100 and the ride so stable , 2019 MONDEO will have as you say 8speed auto ,rotary gear shift , ,dealerships sometimes seem to not know much,at big day out I was disappointed no MONDEO on Ford stand, Ford member peterborough staff said, MONDEO no longer on scheme hasn’t been for while, I just walked away from this idiot. It’s on scheme has always been .

PhilSlightly ginger call the guy he’s a mate of mine his name is James Rowe you won’t get any bull shit I promis you.
He was so helpful to me I was trying to get a comfy seating position in a galaxy titanium as they no longer did the x version with electric seats, ( I ha e a dodgy curved fused spine) he knew the mustang headrests has extra adjustment and swapped a couple to try on test drive.
Nothing was too much trouble.
I think the dealer you you spoke too as said had a load of manuals to shift.

Slightly GingerI was surprised to hear that fact so forcefully put, he was very nice and very friendly, but he was very certain, and he only spoke to us for a few minutes didn’t try to sell my parents a manual, etc.
Strange
Thanks guys

PhilI had a galaxy titanium for 3 days extended test drive, a 150bhp diesel auto with stop start etc. and it wouldn’t do more then 36mpg even though the trip was showing 45mpg.
Mixed driving and in the end our touran was about 10 mpg better on fuel, was quicker and again I could get comfy easy in the vw, in the for I couldn’t get comfy.
The arm rest was fixed on the galaxy? On our Tiguan it slides forward and back and is on a ratchet for height.
So the touran though smaller was still better for comfort and as practicle as the front passenger seat folds flat to carry almost 8ft long lengths

MikeThe new 8 speed auto box in the new Focus etc I’m sure will be more economical I hope it’s as good as my DSG box in my new Golf 1.5 tsi 130bhp which I get 600 to 650 miles on the tank full
November 1, 2018 at 11:28 am #64141Ordered my Kuga Tit X eco auto at the end of Aug. Delivery is due 15th Nov. Evans Halshaw, Batley
Grand C-Max 2.0 tdci zetec - Autochair 80Kg Hoist
Kuga 2.0 tdci zetec - Autochair 80Kg Hoist
Kuga 1.5 eco 176ps awd auto titanium x - Autochair 80Kg Hoist
Kuga 2.5 FHEV 190 PS CVT Auto Vignale - Lucid Red - Autochair 80 Kg Hoist - on orderNovember 1, 2018 at 11:48 am #64144I have a 2.0 180hp S-Max Titanium diesel, currently getting around 42mpg, I consider that ok, not earth shattering, just pretty much what I expected as its a big and heavy 2.0 car and I like to “make progress” in it. I find the powershift box to be very smooth and quick to respond.
Its definitely much better than the 7 speed dual clutch box fitted to the new shape Merc B200d I just rented in Spain for 2 weeks, it was awful. Laggy, slow responses, no power unless you set it up by going down the box a few gears using the paddles first. It gave 44mpg over 1200 miles driven much the same speed etc as the S-Max. Had an awful stop start system too, jerky & awful at junctions (there’s a gap, lets go…no…lets not, the car has not started yet).
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

MickyI had jerky problems start/stop on my Volvo V70 2015 pathetic facelift , let’s go,/no let’s not/let’s judder/ok go
My Ford is very good.

PhilBe interested to see what the auto actual s-max mpg was prob more like 36-7 in the galaxy I hired.
I like the shape of the s-max over the galaxy
just a shame there is no titanium x on the scheme anymore
Turbo cars hate warm weather they never make good power due to the heat.

MattCMy Kuga Titanium X 180ps Powershift AWD gives about 35mpg around town and 40mpg on a motorway/dual carriageway run.
Was hoping for better to be honest but its still miles better than my old Pajero.
Due to order new car at the end of this month for a Feb 2019 delivery going for the C-HR Hybrid so should be lots better on fuel.
November 2, 2018 at 5:50 pm #64250I would do some research on the internet regarding the C-HR first? your Kuga figures are similar to ours

PhilOur 8 year old vw dsg 170 sport does a real world 42 mpg around town and nearly 50 at 75 on a motorway.
So things mpg wise haven’t improved with tdi engines.
But from what I here about the new ford 3 cylinder 1.0 pertrol it sounds very impressive.
Mind you I’d never run one out of warranty as so many engines have let go
but while you’re not paying for repairs I’d try one
