To be honest I couldn’t give a monkeys (unless it’s you first mobility car) I’m just grateful to be on the scheme in the first place ….I’ll wait ….
January 21, 2025 at 10:19 pm #296471Order window doesn’t really have anything to do with wait times, if you had a 6 month window and a six month wait time the wait time to get the new car is still the same!. With a 3 month window you’d still be waiting 6 months for the same car and you’d still be driving around in a Motability vehicle as they just extend the lease until you get the new car.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 22, 2025 at 6:50 am #296474I’m also very glad to need on scheme ..I meant by question that it would mean Motability getting car back around the 3 years which is obviously better financially for them and would mean long wait times would need in the last 6 months of hire
January 22, 2025 at 8:31 am #296479There was a strong argument for increasing the 3 month order window during Covid and for the first year or two afterwards, as lead times were, in many cases, were much longer than that. However, the overwhelming majority of these issues are now resolved, so there is far less of an arguement for it now.
Also, as can be seen from this forum, quite a few people change their minds between ordering and delivery (for a multitude of reasons, not least AP changes), so the wider the order window the bigger the issue that this becomes!
January 22, 2025 at 10:18 am #296484I would say that the AP you pay is the lowest of either the quarter you order or the quarter you take delivery.
Sorry for bleating on about this!
My current car took 18 months from order to delivery, clearly some things you can not cater for.

January 22, 2025 at 11:05 am #296488I would go along with the AP being the lowest of when ordering or at handover as some dealers will alter paperwork to give you lowest AP but others will flat out refuse. I’ve been with 4 different dealers and all refused to alter paperwork stating it’s against motability rules which it is but some customers get the benefit of dealers changing paperwork so why not us all.
January 22, 2025 at 8:03 pm #296514I think a 3 month window for ordering is more than enough, we’ve just had to sort out an order within two weeks after writing our last vehicle off on the scheme to keep the hire car for the full 3 months and I think the chances of us getting the car within three months will be slim to non existent but we’ll see. I agree with the cost of the vehicle being the lower of the two on the day you order or day you collect, it’s even the same with colours available and Motability won’t get involved at all with colour costs.
