Received my letter this morning can renew from the 9th May, I am going to accept the 12 month extension. We still love the Suzuki Across we are only at 19,226 miles.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Given the turmoil with Motability and the Gulf crisis, taking the extension is your best course at the moment.
At least you can relax and enjoy the motor, see where the land lies in a years time.

April 30, 2026 at 7:42 am #354461Yes that’s the best thing to do I don’t under till Christmas so upheaval may be sorted by then as I read Angela Rayner is putting up a leadership challenge

Out of interest, how did you manage to secure an extension?
I am being flat refused ( currently 3 Yr, 10,000 miles)

I thought you could extend the lease upto 24 months?
April 30, 2026 at 7:44 pm #354501Motability really do need to decide what their policy is regarding extensions and stick to it. The policy has changed multiple times, with no communication, and implementation of it seems to depend on who you speak to ;
Firstly, anyone could extend by 1 or 2 years. Next they restricted the ability to seek an extension to those who had done very low mileage (under 20k in 3 years from memory) or had expensive adaptations. Then this was also stopped with no extensions allowed (other than 3 months). However, at every stage, some people got extensions and others didn’t, with no rhyme nor reason as to why.
I was under the impression that the policy was still that extensions weren’t allowed, yet @Oscarmax is granted one with 19k miles (but only for 12 months) yet @JSM1976 is refused one with half that mileage. It makes no sense. If I wanted an extension (which I don’t) I’d keep calling Motability until I eventually got someone who agreed to it 😂
April 30, 2026 at 8:13 pm #354505Mobility review their previous recorded phone calls and found in my favour, you need to construct a strong case, don’t take the call handlers word for it, email the main man politely outlining your case, keep to the facts and ask is there anyway he can help, they will then update your case to a senior member of staff.

May 1, 2026 at 11:49 am #354554What happens if it states in your contract hire agreement that you can extend the lease by 24 months?
DURATION OF HIRE
The Hire Term is for a minimum period of three years starting on the date of delivery of the Vehicle (the
“Minimum Hire Term”), but continuing thereafter until either the expiry of a period of twenty four months
following the Minimum Hire Term (the “Maximum Hire Term”) or the date on which this Agreement is
terminated in accordance with the terms set out in the Contract Hire Terms and Conditions (Ref T&Cs –
08/23)(the “Conditions”), whichever is the earlier.
The above is in our contract hire agreement. Our lease ends in October, renewal window opens July.

They are using the Terms and Conditions. From 08/23:
10.1 You are only entitled to use the Scheme Vehicle for the Hire Term as specified on the front of the Agreement. The Hire Term shall continue automatically following the end of the Minimum Hire Term referred to in this Agreement unless either you or we have served not less than 60 days’ written notice on the other to terminate this Agreement on the last day of that Minimum Hire Term. If no such notice is served, this Agreement shall, subject to the provisions of Clauses 11 and 12, terminate upon expiry of the Maximum Hire Term.
11.3 At any time after the end of the Minimum Hire Term, we may terminate this Agreement by giving you not less than 14 days’ written notice
This despite the “rules” being commonly known at the time of taking out the lease that low mileage at the end of minimum hire period guaranteed an extension to maximum hire term.
That high Advance payment, which made sense over 5 years, was not worth it ☹️
Changes such as this shouldn’t be applied retrospectively, in my opinion.
May 1, 2026 at 2:19 pm #354566Unfortunately it was challenged and found in favour of Mobility, email them and state the grounds for a lease extension, it is a case by case decision.

If you’re going to moan at least spell the guys name right FFS. Also it’s impossible for Corbyn to do anything with Labour he’s a member of another party.
Claptrap nonsense. Also Corbyn lost the 2019 with 3 million more votes than Starmer got when he won and was infinitely more popular to boot.

Ironic. If you’re going to correct someone, you may want to check whether or not your numbers and statements are correct, otherwise, you know.. doesn’t make you look particularly great either.
