Test drives are a real problem. Having now had motability cars for over 20 years I have never been able to test drive the model and in the trim level I was planning on getting. For the most part you get to be accompanied by a sales rep that tries to tell you in the 15 minutes you have for the test drive just how wonderful the car is. On two occasions the car then ordered was not the car delivered, yes it was the same model and in the same spec/colour, in both cases the spare wheel was missing. I was told specifications are subject to change and shown the small print on the back of the brochure. In both cases an offer by me to hand the car back to Motability resulted in spare wheels and the necessary kit for them being fitted.
My current problem is how to get long tests drives of at least 24 hours so as to be able to decide if I can live with the next car for 3 years. Specifically this time around I am looking for an overnight test drive to test the headlights.
I wonder what being a motability dealer should be, perhaps they should as part of being a motability dealer offer motability customers a minimum 24 hr test drive, insurance could be covered by Motability.
