Sorry to hear about your accidents Guys , I have been lucky in that I had driven 45000 miles each year for over 15 years, plus 20-30000 pa before that ever since 1963, and I am now down to about 12-15000 pa, for the past 8/9 years, with no serious accidents – touch wood- although an artic did catch my rear end in a newish XC70 and wrote it off.

A lot of this higher mileage was in fact in XC Volvos, in which Safety was a priority, and they have consistently been innovators in this field. But that didn’t make me any less aware of the dangers presented by speed and distraction, and all of this driving made me really aware of the shortcomings of many drivers, especially on the motorway ( including myself ) and regular courses with the IAM , paid for by my employers, made me even more aware of potential problems.

I lost an argument with a parachute many years back, ( although I did win very many before that), leaving me with a busted pelvis, femurs, nose, hands etc etc and whilst in hospital saw many ‘ horrors ‘ arriving at all hours from RTA’s, and that is enough to make Safety a Priority – speed kills?
