I think its” horses for courses”, if you live in an area thats remote and routinely gets snow in the winter then getting out and about is essential. Could be just for the basics at the nearest shop, that could be miles away, or a visit to the doctors or hospital.
I have in the past walked, through two feet deep snow, to the local store but if i had a distance to travel, winter tyres is something i would consider.
