I would love to have winter tyres on my Motability vehicle but don’t really fancy the cost of buying new wheels/tyres every three years, that’s what’s putting me off (and where to keep them, not much room for that sort of thing where I live).
@Brydo, you are very much correct regarding winter tyres vs summer tyres on 4WD. I lived/worked in Central Europe for 7 years and at the end of each autumn (as would everyone else) I would change my trusty little Fiesta onto winter tyres (kept on a set of steel rims) and that little thing saw me through mountain passes and all types of conditions that would be TOTALLY innavigable with summer tyres, even with 4WD. Winter tyres are truly brilliant with anything below 16°C and come into their own in icy/snowy conditions.
Like I say, I’d love them on a Motability vehicle but the aforementioned stops me from doing so.
