    Hi Guy’s

Hi Newfi, yes the satnav has got speed cameras built in and took me by surprise as I wasn’t expecting to have that. Bad news is that I renewed my speed camera subscription on my TT PND about 3 weeks ago.?

In the map view it has an icon of a camera with a plus sign next to it and not knowing what it was I pressed it and it turned out I just reported a false speed camera. It wasn’t until I was a few hours into driving not actually using the satnav proper I noticed I kept getting a chime every now and then then noticed it was displaying camera’s on the map.

I had 6 speed DSG in my first TDi Golf on a 58 plate but since then they’ve been the 7 gear version so used to the box now and I don’t take a lot of notice of what it is doing during normal everyday driving. My Seat Leon on a 61 plate was the first 7 box and I didn’t even know it until it had been delivered and a couple of hour later I noticed the dash was displaying D7. I think I get distracted by getting things in the boot and the boot of the Leon certainty gave me problems I had to live with for 3 years with its curved hatch-door. Another lesson learnt.

Hi Phil, your right I will get use to it but these little things like above with hatch-doors, engines, gearboxes etc, is something that’s hard to take on board, more so because I can’t test drive any of the cars before hand and its why I did hours and hours looking at every part and the working of the VW Touran and I think it would have been my perfect car had they been able to manufacture one.

So with the OH going onto me about the problems she has lifting my scooter into the boot drastic action had to be taken and I’m really annoyed with VW and their dealers because had they been honest coming forward with delivery times I could have taken that on board and convince her in doors she could make it through another Winter but for now its no more VW for me and I really am getting used to the KIA now down to taking her on a grocery shop last night and the scooter lined up perfectly for loading back onto the KIA (maybe that installer was right, I will get used to it) and there was plenty of room in the back for the shopping, fully assembled scooter and its hoist so yes I’m getting use to it and by Christmas I would have forgot the VW nightmare.

The BMW Series 2 Grand Tourer was on my list and I should have given it a once over but I was getting dealership fatigue looking at all these cars and just didn’t get around to the BMW dealer with my tape measure to measure the boot and hatch. Good luck  on your search.

Newfi, Porlock Hill ? Back in the 70’s and 80’s I often smelt the burning of asbestos from the clutch going up that one. Went up it in the Golf, Autumn last year and was a breeze.

I hope sometime in the New Year to get up to the area you’ve taken your photos in particular the Ribblesdale viaduct area. We go away for a few days at the end of February and that ones been on the cards for a few years now and more so since I discovered a railway enthusiast site that has 3 cameras along the Settle to Carlisle railway around Ribblesdale. The reason I keep putting it off is fear of a sudden snow fall then I decide to go down to the Tropical south coast ?instead but I’m going to get there for sure.

If anyone is interested in viewing those cameras you have to register with their site and the S&C cameras are free to view with no extra subscriptions.
