For my next car I’d love the kia e-niro but for most of 2019 kia have claimed they couldn’t make them because they were unable to source enough batteries… load of rubbish most people thought?
Turns out a memo was released in error by a Spanish dealer showing that they were deliberately holding them back to clear out old stock of their petrol & diesel models because of the new 2020 European emissions regulations.
I think this is part of the problem and “old stock” is being dumped onto motability and why we’re getting things like the not very economical XC40 & Tiguan… both beautiful cars but not very eco friendly. Of course it gives us the chance to drive some lovely cars for 3 years with no real worries about its future trade-in value so not all bad.
I’d expect this turmoil of cars being added and removed at short notice to continue for a while and I can see myself letting my lease end and coming off the scheme (again!… I’ve got access to another old car I can use as a daily driver) and just watching until I see what I really want coming on.
However this lack of stability and continuity is very poor by motability as most of our lives are stressful enough without this adding to it?
